The Solution:

Inspired by the inclusive and transformative initiatives of Gaza999, the "Creative Islands" project was conceived to establish an artistic residency and community collaboration program on Rapa Nui. This program aims to bring together local and international artists to collaborate with the community on projects that highlight Rapa Nui's cultural and environmental challenges, fostering a collective effort towards healing and understanding.

The Implementation:

Kari, a renowned artist with a deep commitment to cultural and environmental causes, was selected to lead the first residency cohort. Collaborating closely with community members, Kari facilitated the development of public art installations, murals, and performances that reflected Rapa Nui's heritage and current environmental challenges. Workshops and open studio sessions were organized to engage the community directly in the creative process, enhancing their connection to the island's cultural narratives and ecological preservation efforts.
