The Solution:

Kemi proposed creating green transit corridors, combining sustainable transportation with environmental conservation. These corridors would include lanes for low-emission vehicles and bicycles, pedestrian paths surrounded by local vegetation, and public spaces featuring community art. Integrating smart technology for safety and efficient travel information was also a key component, aiming to make these corridors vital to both everyday life and emergency situations.

The Implementation:

Kemi's vision materialized through a participatory approach, engaging communities from the outset to ensure the corridors reflected their needs and aspirations. The project commenced with detailed urban planning, harmonizing with the rural landscapes of the Central African Republic. Infrastructure development followed, with a focus on utilizing local materials and sustainable practices. The community's involvement was integral, from the planting of trees to the creation of murals, fostering a sense of ownership and pride. The implementation phase was marked by the introduction of smart, solar-powered lighting and information systems, enhancing safety and accessibility. Workshops and community gatherings were organized to celebrate the launch of the green corridors, offering training on sustainable transit and environmental conservation.

The Impact:

these corridors have spurred unprecedented local development, directly leading to the establishment of 12 new community centers and schools within a year, offering over 2,000 children and adults alike access to education and community services for the first time.
