Lina is inspired by Gaza999's composting and organic waste conversion programs. Envisioning a future where Taclobanites actively convert their organic waste into compost and biogas, she sees a path to environmental and economic rejuvenation.

The Implementation:

Lina's vision comes to life as she spearheads the launch of communal composting initiatives across Tacloban. Partnering with city officials, she identifies strategic locations for composting sites, ensuring accessibility for all residents. The setup of these sites involves not just the installation of composting bins but also the creation of a welcoming space for community engagement.

Lina organizes a comprehensive series of workshops, inviting experts to share composting techniques and the science behind organic waste conversion. These workshops serve not only as educational forums but also as platforms for community bonding, where residents exchange ideas and share their experiences.

To facilitate the program, Lina introduces a digital platform for residents to track their contributions and see the tangible impact of their efforts. This platform also serves as a hub for scheduling compost drop-offs and pickups for local farmers and gardeners, creating a seamless link between waste producers and compost users.

The Impact:

Tacloban's landscape transforms as the program takes root. Over 30 composting sites become active, significantly reducing the city's organic waste and providing fertile compost for local agriculture. The initiative engages more than 15,000 residents, each contributing to the city's sustainability goals.
